Our
own Mariah Hope aka
"Tag 19"spent
her life in a Puppy Mill.
She
was USED in a mill in Oklahoma to produce puppies, basically for
the money, for many years. She had been branded on her head and
had metal cow tags with her breeding number in her ears which she
tore out on her own. The scars from both are still on this baby
as you can see. Thankfully, she was rescued from that mill
by Oklahoma Dachshund Rescue. (Mariah says "Thank You Aunt Sandy!")
Now, in her aged years, she walks on her legs, rather than the pads
on her feet. There is no cure for this problem...it comes from living
on wire and producing the almighty buck for the humans. Now, Mariah
has her very own "Tag 19 Rig"--a pet stroller so that she can go
on walks with the rest of the family.
With a broken heart, I must let you
know that Mariah Hope went to the Rainbow Bridge on May 17,
2007. Her legacy lives on at
www.LittleTag19.com .Her
book is finished and available for purchase on her web site.

Little
Molly Jean Marie was also a Puppy Mill Baby. She has the
most beautiful face and was used for the money. Molly is still frightened
of people, especially men in hats. We've had her for three years
and she has probably come as far as she ever will. She was
pulled from a Missouri Mill in 2003. |

Zachary
Jordan was a Mill Baby from Kansas. They didn't want him any
longer because he refused to breed. He is all of 7 pounds and like
Molly, is afraid of humans. He's come a long way but is still very
much to himself and afraid of noise and people. For some reason,
he is terrified of the VCR when it's working. We can't make a connection,
but it sends him up the wall. |

Abigail
Nicole is the newest rescue we have and she was also pulled
from a Missouri Mill. She is all of three years old and had given
birth to six litters. We were told she wouldn't breed any more,
and therefore they didn't want her. When she was taken to be spayed,
our vet told us her ovaries were so full of cysts, she couldn't
breed if she wanted to. Abby needed some work but has adjusted to
a family and to love faster than any other Puppy Mill Rescue we've
had. She loves being loved and has so much affection to give
back. She is an absolute honey.

None
of these babies had ever been touched by human hands other than
to be tossed in a cage for breeding. There are SO many dogs out
there like them, treated so terribly day to day, living under awful
conditions, starving, sick, and being used for the almighty dollar.
JB's Legacy supports the end of puppy mills and is proud
to say so. Feel free to check out "puppy mills"
on your web browser for more details.

Ok, I
can't leave them out...(they don't
appreciate being omitted from the page <smile>)
Amanda
Jo is NOT a puppy mill rescue. But she is a rescue. She was
tied on both sides to a front porch post to be shot in the head
for wetting on the floor. We got there just in time about 9 years
ago. She had just "showed up" at somebody's house one day. Amanda
is the boss of the family and the official "guard dog" of JB's Legacy.

As
of November 2007, we would like to welcome and add "Itty
Bitty" who is a back yard breeder rescue. Itty was used for
personal gain with a family that never ever took time to give
her a name. She gave birth to many beautiful dapple puppies that
were sold for the extra money. Back yard breeder dogs (BYB) do
not USUALLY live the life of a puppy mill dog but they can. They
are bred usually every season but do not live in the horror of a
commercial type facility. It CAN happen though. Itty was going
to be put down because she was so "old" at age 7. She now lives
with the above brothers and sisters and is doing very well
adjusting to a family. |

"I am Tag 19.
I spent a life of Misery being
Nameless, Hungry, and Thirsty,
Caged on Wire, Vetless, and Sick,
Sunless, Abused, Tagged and Branded
and I am now Crippled...
Just so YOU could buy one of my puppies
that I never knew or had a chance to love!"
